GTA 6 pre-orders opened in India on June 25, 2026, and the rupee pricing landed lower than a straight dollar conversion would suggest: ₹5,999 for the Standard Edition and ₹7,499 for Ultimate, identical across PlayStation and Xbox storefronts. Before you hand over six thousand rupees, though, there are a few things worth knowing: starting with the fact that the "physical" copy ships without a disc.

What GTA 6 costs in India

Both official digital storefronts price Grand Theft Auto VI the same. The PlayStation Store India lists the Standard Edition at ₹5,999 and the Ultimate Edition at ₹7,499 for PS5. The Xbox India store matches both figures for Xbox Series X|S, and adds a third option PlayStation currently doesn't have: an Ultimate Edition Upgrade priced at ₹1,500.

Edition PlayStation Store India Xbox Store India
Standard Edition ₹5,999 ₹5,999
Ultimate Edition ₹7,499 ₹7,499
Ultimate Edition Upgrade Not listed ₹1,500

For context, American buyers pay $79.99 and $99.99 for the same two editions, so India's rupee pricing sits comfortably below a direct conversion.

Per Digit's coverage, Indian pre-orders went live on June 25 through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Store and select physical retailers. Rockstar hasn't published an India-specific retailer list. More on that below.

The ₹1,500 Xbox upgrade is a free decision delay

The upgrade math is unusually clean: ₹5,999 plus ₹1,500 is exactly ₹7,499. On Xbox, you lose nothing by pre-ordering Standard now and converting to Ultimate later: the total is identical either way.

If you're on Xbox and even slightly unsure about Ultimate, I'd buy Standard and sit on the decision until reviews land.

PlayStation owners don't get that flexibility yet. The equivalent upgrade page on the US PlayStation Store currently shows "Not available for purchase" with no price listed, so on PS5 the edition choice is effectively locked in at checkout for now.

Editions and bonuses, the short version

This isn't a full edition teardown (our global editions breakdown covers every last tattoo parlor) but here's what matters for an Indian buyer. Every pre-order placed before November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack: a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. Digital store pre-orders add one free month of GTA+, which the Rockstar Store explicitly labels a "Digital Store Pre-Order Bonus"; treat it as a digital-only perk.

Two catches on that free month. First, the redemption deadline differs by platform: PlayStation's listing says redeem by March 31, 2027, while Xbox gives you 180 days from placing the pre-order. Second, outlets including GameSpot report that auto-renewal is switched on by default, so you'll be billed monthly at the regular GTA+ price once the free period ends unless you cancel. We've covered the auto-renew trap separately, and it's worth two minutes of your time.

The box has no disc in it

Rockstar's official store is blunt about this: physical versions contain only a download code (no disc) and that applies to both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and to both Standard and Ultimate editions. Some outlets have reported that the boxed Ultimate doesn't exist at retail, but Rockstar's own store page says the code-in-a-box format covers both editions, and the official page is the better source.

The boxed version goes on sale November 12, 2026 (a week before launch) so buyers can redeem the code and pre-load early. Digital pre-orders can start pre-loading the same day at local midnight. Practically, an Indian boxed copy buys you packaging and little else: you still need the full download. One more wrinkle worth flagging: the free GTA+ month is listed as a digital-store bonus, and multiple outlets report boxed copies don't include it, though no official page spells out that exclusion.

As for where to find one, Digit's report says only "select physical retailers" are carrying the game in India. If you're set on a boxed copy from Amazon.in, Flipkart, or Games The Shop, the cancellation terms below matter more than usual, because you're buying a sealed download code.

Cancellation rules, store by store

Between now and November 19 is a long time, and pre-orders can be walked back (we've got a full guide to cancelling and refunding a GTA 6 pre-order) but the terms vary a lot by storefront. Here's what each official policy says.

  • PlayStation Store: you can cancel for a refund any time before release day if you pre-ordered 14 or more days out (any order placed now qualifies), as long as the content hasn't started downloading. Most payment types are refunded to the original method.
  • Microsoft Store / Xbox: digital pre-orders can be cancelled self-serve up to 10 days before launch through your Microsoft account's order history. Note the billing quirk: credit cards are charged around 10 days before release, but Microsoft account credit is charged immediately when you pre-order.
  • Amazon.in: orders can be cancelled before shipping from Your Orders, with refunds to the original payment method. Even shipped orders can be pulled back via "Request Cancellation," and Amazon says you can refuse delivery if no cancel option appears.
  • Flipkart: cancellation works before dispatch, though a fee can apply after the free-cancellation window shown on the product page. Once the order is out for delivery you can't cancel, but doorstep rejection is allowed. Prepaid refunds arrive within 5-7 business days.
  • Games The Shop: the specialist retailer deducts a 3% cancellation fee from any order you cancel, treats digital games as final sale, and processes refunds 6-7 working days after receiving a returned product. On a ₹5,999 order, that fee is roughly ₹180 for changing your mind, which makes GTS the least forgiving place to park an impulse pre-order.

FAQ

When does GTA 6 release in India?

Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, confirmed by Rockstar and Take-Two. Outlets report a simultaneous worldwide unlock at 5:00 AM UTC, which works out to 10:30 AM IST, but Rockstar hasn't published an official per-region schedule, so treat the hour as provisional.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC in India?

No PC version has been announced anywhere, India included. Based on Rockstar's past console-first gaps, outlets like PC Gamer estimate a PC window of late 2027 to 2028: speculation, not confirmation.

Does the Indian physical edition include a disc?

No. Per Rockstar's official store, the box contains a download code only, for both editions on both consoles. The boxed version reaches shelves November 12, 2026.

What's the deadline for pre-order bonuses?

Orders placed before November 20, 2026 get the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital store pre-orders also get the one-month GTA+ trial: redeem it by March 31, 2027 on PlayStation, or within 180 days of pre-ordering on Xbox.

Can I upgrade Standard to Ultimate later?

On Xbox India, yes: the ₹1,500 Ultimate Edition Upgrade takes Standard to full Ultimate content at the same combined price. On PlayStation, the upgrade listing isn't purchasable yet.

The bottom line

My take: digital Standard at ₹5,999 is the sensible default for Indian buyers, on Xbox especially, since the ₹1,500 upgrade path means deciding on Ultimate later costs nothing extra. Skip the boxed copy unless you want the shelf art: it's a download code either way, and it reportedly forfeits the GTA+ month. And stick to the official stores and known retailers named above; per a Malwarebytes report from June, fake "early access" sites were charging around $250 in cryptocurrency for a product that simply does not exist.
